IN THE BEGINNING.....GOD CREATED THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH

I believe God created the heavens and the earth because the Bible says so

I want to start at the “beginning” as that is a great place to start. You get a good perspective by going all the way back to the beginning. I am talking about the beginning of the creation when God made the world.

I don’t believe that there was a gap between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2. That is called the Gap Theory, and it is going to stay a theory because no one can prove it.

They say they have all this geological evidence and all that ballyhoo, that the earth is really millions of years old, but the Creation scientists like Kent Hovind put those God-Evolutionists, or Creation- Evolutionists to shame with real scientific facts about how impossible it is for the earth to be that old.

Then there are those that say that there was a world before Adam that Satan destroyed when he was Lucifer and ruling over some type of being on the first earth with his angels, who all rebelled and God had to wipe out all of the creatures who lived on the earth at that time with a flood.

There is no scriptural evidence of a world before Adam except for the few little things here and there that people “understand” to be proof.

I won’t get into details now, but will deal more deeply later about this , and also things such as who “Lucifer” in the KJV Bible in Isaiah 14:12 really was.

There is also proof that there was death, and also evil before Adam and Eve, but I don’t know about a first earth that was destroyed in the tofu and bofu theory.

So lets get to the beginning of this and talk about the beginning in Genesis 1:1 and all the other verses that use the same word in the Old Testament and New Testaments to see what exactly is meant by “beginning”. Beginning of what?

That is what we want to know. There are those who believe that it means in the beginning of ageless time. Well, ageless time can’t have a beginning. Eternity cannot have a beginning nor an end. So something happened at a certain time, to bring things into being.

So did this beginning happen millions or billions of years ago, or was it more recent, say, several thousand? Let us examine Genesis 1:1. We could make it with all the nice numbers in front of all the words which means that these verses come complete with the original Hebrew and Greek meanings from the Strong’s Concordance, but first let us try to match Genesis 1:1 with other verses from the Old And New Testaments to see if we can find similar concepts of the beginning and what this is talking about here.

One of the first verses that came to my mind when I started thinking about this was John 1:1. Funny isn’t it? Both of these verses start off a whole book of the Bible, and have to do with creation. Except John goes back even further and says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him” Here we have creation again. “All things were made by Him”

So what am I trying to say this means to me? What this means to me is that Genesis 1:1 and John 1:1 are talking about the same thing. The beginning of the creation of our present physical world, and the galaxy, or maybe we can go even further to say constellation, we are living in.

Now before you go having a fit, let me explain why I think this is what it is talking about. You have to be a bit realistic when talking about creation, and not just limit everything to man’s knowledge of science, because I am certain that God’s knowledge of science goes further and deeper than man’s knowledge.

It says in Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth” it says “heaven” and this is the definition it gives here in the Strong’s:

1) heaven, heavens, sky

a) visible heavens, sky

1) as abode of the stars

2) as the visible universe, the sky, atmosphere, etc

b) Heaven (as the abode of God)

Now depending upon which of these definitions you choose to use, take the first one, for example. Heavens and sky, then we have heavens visible to the naked eye, then we have abode of the stars, then we have the universe which is visible with the naked eye, and the sky.

All of these definitions include the physical creation of the atmosphere of the earth, and further into outer space as far as we can see with the physical eye.

So how far are we able to see with our eyes when you look up into the heavens or sky in the daytime? What do we see? Blue sky, clouds, sun, birds flying, sunrise, the sunset, etc and you look at it, and it looks beautiful, it looks wonderful. The wondrous creation of God is all in plain view. Or is it?

What can we see at night when the sky is clear? You can see the moon, stars and planets. The planets are cold bodies so they don’t give off their own light, but reflect the light of the sun. So you can see things at night that you cannot see during the day even without a telescope!

Now we can see further into space than ever. In fact I typed this question into the Yahoo search, and this is the intelligent intellectual answer I got:

“We can see back to very near to when the Universe began....well over 13 billion years ago. SO what we are seeing (actually collecting the light photographically, since none of the really big telescopes use eyepieces or visual observing any more) are objects that are more than 13 billion light years away.”

Now if you choose to believe that, well, that’s great for you! So we can see 13, billion years into the past. Well, we can’t really “see” it as far as the eyes go, we can just sort of read it in the waves we get transmitted by these machines.

Wow, now that is some feat isn’t it? What an imagination! Sounds like some sort of a beginning to a science fiction story, not science.

Now let us get real. How far can we really see into outer space?

Here is a quote from a web site I found:

“While it is true that some ingenious devices (such as the quadrant) were developed early on in the history of astronomy, it wasn't until the time of Galileo (the early 17th century) that astronomers began probing the universe in detail. Before that time, the human eye placed such constraints on what could be seen that all we knew of the heavens was limited to two large bright bodies (Sun and Moon), numerous faint lights (the fixed stars and infrequent novae), and an intermediate group (the planets and occasional comets). Using instruments such as the quadrant (for position), and water clock (for time), it became possible to predict the movements of all such bodies. And it was prediction - not understanding - that drove observation using the human eye alone.”

From this web site: http://www.universetoday.com/am/publish/how_far_can_you_see.html

So you see, although with the advanced Hubble telescope man is able to see 13 billion light-years away, with the naked eye man cannot see very far, yet when man first looked up into the heavens and declared the glory of God, all he was seeing was perhaps the sun, moon, and stars. This was enough to write with the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, “in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”

Gen 1:1 In the beginning (which is translated from the Original Hebrew word meaning “First”) God created the heaven and the earth.

So we have God here , creating the heaven and the earth. This, we have just proved whether you know it or not, is talking about the physical heaven, the atmosphere, sky, clouds, sun, moon, and the stars that are within our physical sight range, which includes our Milky Way Galaxy.

Now, this is not theology, or trying to figure out God. This is defining heaven, as the Bible says it is.

This “heaven” is written “the heaven” and not “heaven” or “Heaven” which means to me that this is not talking about the heaven where God dwells. I believe the story of creation in Genesis 1:1, and John 1:1 are referring to the physical creation of the heavens we can see with our eyes.

This is why I think that.

Gen 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which [were] under the firmament from the waters which [were] above the firmament: and it was so.

Gen 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

“And God called the firmament Heaven.” God named it heaven.

It is obvious that this is not referring to something spiritual, or the spirit world, or the Heaven that God and the angels dwell in. It would seem to me that this would be talking about the physical atmosphere, the hemispheric heavens, which is all part of the physical creation, not the spiritual heaven.

Could be that God was naming the heavens after the spiritual heaven He had already created in the spirit world?

Another passage I saw meaning that this was the creation of the physical heavens and not the spirit world was: Gen 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: [he made] the stars also. Gen 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth.

So here is God creating the sun and the moon, and setting them in the heavens, the firmament , above the earth and it’s atmosphere, placing them in the physical heaven.

Here is the proof that Genesis 1:1 is referring to the physical creation ONLY, and that the spiritual creation came before this and not at the same time.

Well, the fact that we can supposedly see 13 billion years into the past obviously shows that the universe outside of what we can see with our physical eyes has been around for a lot longer than this earth, the sun, moon, and the stars we can see.

I don’t know what you call it, or if there is a word that labels people who believe in the separate creation of the physical things and spiritual things, but I do believe there are schools of both thoughts.

The Bible proves that “the beginning” has to do with creation, this means the physical creation we can now see with our eyes, and not billions and billions of years ago or ages ago when God created the part of the universe we cannot see with our eyes.

I believe it because the Bible says so
